General FAQ

How long does it take to learn TRE®?

Most people learn the movement sequence in 1-2 sessions or classes, but it can take a bit longer to learn self-regulation. Research shows that 6-8 weeks of supervised practice helps people develop a strong practice.

Is special equipment or exercise clothing needed to practice TRE®?

The only things necessary are clothes that allow easy movement, a wall space to lean against, and enough floor space to lay with the legs extended comfortably.

Can people with physical limitations practice TRE®?

Yes, the TRE® movement sequence has many variations and modifications for all body types and physical abilities. Please notify your Provider of any concerns you have before your session or group, so they can be sure to have appropriate bolsters and supports.

How long does it take to practice TRE®?

The full TRE® movement sequence takes about 30 minutes. After regular practice, the warm up exercises can be skipped which shortens the process to 5-15 minutes.

How often should TRE® be practiced to get optimal benefits?

For most people we recommend practicing at least three times per week for optimal benefits. With professional evaluation, we can individualize a practice plan for your health status and goals.

Is TRE® practice intended to cause emotional release?

Overwhelmingly there is NO emotional reaction while practicing TRE®. The therapeutic tremor works by relaxing neuromuscular tension, which usually improves people’s moods and ability to tolerate strong emotions whenever they do occur. If emotion does arise and you feel comfortable with it, just allow the process to continue. If you feel uncomfortable for any reason, stop the process and restart only when you feel comfortable again. If you have persistent problems with strong emotions, it’s best to consult with a Certified Provider for personalized support and guidance.

What is the difference between a Certified Provider, Certification Trainer Trainee/Mentor, and a Certification Trainer?

All three are certified by the global certifying agency, TRE®, LLC. A Certified Provider is able to work with individuals and groups. A Certification Trainer is a Certified Provider who is able to train others to teach TRE®. A Certification Trainer Trainee/Mentor is a Certification Trainer in training.
